  • Warmup – Create a new Google Drive document and title it “Theatre II Semester II Free-write,” enter the date and type about your Winter Vacation. Make sure to save!
  • Watch EAT Trailer
  • Think-Pair-Share: Why do people make plays like this? What are some other ways to create social change? What could our school use to improve ourselves?

Wednesday

  • Warmup – Go over Vocabulary Digital Scrapbook
  • Brainstorm 10 ideas for a 10-minute play (must have enough parts for everyone in class OR we must do more than one play)
  • Share all ideas – compile a list and vote to narrow it down to 5 or 6 GREAT, COMPELLING, RELEVANT ideas
  • Teacher picks idea out of top group
  • Start mapping out characters and plot

Thursday

  • Warmup – Complete the first page of your vocab book
  • Map out characters and plot

Friday

  • Warmup – Play When I Went to the Store I Bought with a partner – choose a category or type of store
  • start group writing – break the plot into scenes and follow the Two Line Dramas rule for writing

Week 18 (Jan 13 – 17)
Monday

  • Play 5 Things
  • Go over facts/information research for Social Change project
  • Class narrows down format ideas for creating their Social Change project
  • Teacher picks most effective ideas and breaks class into groups for creation
  • Begin writing/rehearsing each part of project

Tuesday

  • Warmup – Complete the second page of your vocab book
  • Write/rehearse each part of project

Wednesday

  • Warmup – Complete the third page of your vocab book
  • Write/rehearse each part of project

Thursday

  • Warmup – Complete the fourth page of your vocab book
  • Write/rehearse each part of project

Friday

  • Warmup – Complete the fifth page of your vocab book
  • Write/rehearse each part of project

Week 19 (Jan 20 – 24)

Week 21 (Feb 3 – 7)
Monday

  • Warmup – play newspaper headlines
  • Watch musical numbers from 3 different musicals
  • Make a chart comparing their singing/choreography, storytelling and entertainment value

Tuesday

  • Warmup – play dance to the music
  • Master a dance move! Choose one yourself or let the teacher choose for you
  • Research online and practice until you are the master

Wednesday

  • Warmup – play pass the sound and movement
  • Teach your dance move to the class, checking for understanding
  • Record all dance moves for future (Friday) reference

Thursday

  • Warmup – play What are you doing?
  • Teach your dance move to the class, checking for understanding

Friday
